Servette has not been the leader of the Super League for over 20 years. That could change on Saturday.

July 26, 2003: Servette maintains its lead in the National League A thanks to a 5-1 win against FC Thun. On the following match day, the Genevans have to give up the top position – and will not take it again for over 20 years.

After difficult years with bankruptcy, forced relegation and various management changes, the club has stabilized and on Saturday has the chance to once again take over the leadership throne of the top division.

Better and better

With a point win away in Winterthur, Geneva will be greeting you from the top, at least until Easter Monday, when YB visits Yverdon. It would be the reward for the improvement that René Weiler’s team has made this season. After a mediocre start to the season, the Geneva team got better and better, and in 2024 no other team has collected more points.

If Servette continues to play like this, they will even win their first championship title since 1999. There is still a long way to go there. However, if the people of Geneva get to know the “leader feeling” on Saturday evening, their motivation will certainly not diminish.
