One UI 6.1 would arrive very soon on the Galaxy S23 with a little new feature expected

Currently reserved for the new Galaxy S24, One UI and features linked to Galaxy AI could arrive on the Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra sooner than expected: as early as March.

When will One UI 6.1 and the Galaxy AI platform arrive on older generation Galaxy “S”? We may now have the beginnings of an answer to this question. While previous rumors spoke without much precision of a deployment somewhere in the first half of 2024, a leaker (Bennett Buhner) suggests this week that One UI 6.1, and the new features it includes, could in fact materialize very soon on the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra. In this case from next month, in March.

As a reminder, this version of One UI, and the Galaxy AI platform that it introduced, are currently reserved for the new Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra launched in mid-January. Samsung has promised to deploy them on its old high-end models, but the brand has, at this stage, not yet announced a precise date, nor given many details on this subject.

OneUI 6.1 soon on the Galaxy S23?

Another leaker (Tarun Vats) is in the same direction as Bennett Buhner regarding a deployment in March of One UI 6.1 on the Galaxy S23. The person concerned, who is content to speculate, estimates that the update could be deployed there between March 11 and 13… or between March 18 and 20.

Logically, and if these predictions are confirmed, One UI would also arrive on devices other than the Galaxy S23 family. We know, for example, that we can expect it on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5. On the other hand, it is difficult to be optimistic for older devices, as Samsung has already clarified that it has no intention of making Galaxy AI backward compatible on its products launched two or more years ago. Clearly, and contrary to what Tarun Vats suggests, the Galaxy S22 should therefore be abandoned.
