One year suspended sentence – Entrepreneur convicted of re-activity

An entrepreneur from the Vöcklaruck district had stuck the so-called black sun – a symbol of the right-wing extremist scene – on his garage window. On Tuesday he was sentenced to twelve months in prison for violating the Nazi Prohibition Act.

The case got rolling in 2021. An entrepreneur from Wolfsegg am Hausruck had put a “black sun” on his garage window with adhesive foil. The symbol is reminiscent of a swastika and is considered a sign of the right-wing extremist scene. The man had also placed his company logo in the middle of the symbol. This was followed by a complaint from the Mauthausen Committee. The state security determined and found other items related to National Socialism in the entrepreneur’s house, such as a belt with a swastika fastener or pictures of Adolf Hitler. On Tuesday, the man had to answer in court. He was acquitted of two charges. However, there was a conviction because of the “black sun” publicly displayed on the garage window: twelve months conditional imprisonment. The judgment is final.
