There would ultimately be no OnePlus 10 Ultra but a OnePlus 10T in the second half of 2022. But where has the standard OnePlus 10 gone?

But what is OnePlus playing with the nomenclature of its smartphones? Perfectly legible for a long time, the brand strategy becomes more and more incomprehensible over the months.

Forget the OnePlus 10 Ultra

And it is not the information that leaker Max Jambor gives us that will allow us to see more clearly. In his words, “ the final name of the next and only flagship arriving this year [est] OnePlus 10T 5G “.

A surprising choice, when we were rather expecting a OnePlus 10 Ultra to complete the series and mark a move upmarket. The manufacturer has certainly accustomed us to launching a T version of its smartphones in the second half of the year, about 5 or 6 months after the release of a standard model. But this year we didn’t get a OnePlus 10: only a OnePlus 10 Pro.

If the leak is true, it would be the first time that OnePlus has released a OnePlus XT without having released a OnePlus X first.

No OnePlus 9T or OnePlus 10, but a OnePlus 10T

To add to the ambient confusion, remember that last year, OnePlus did release a OnePlus 9 and a OnePlus 9 Pro at the start of the year, but neither of them benefited from a T version afterwards, a anomaly in the history of the mark.

OnePlus has changed a lot in recent years. The manufacturer had made a name for itself with its flagship killers, high-end devices at very attractive prices. It was also known for launching T versions of its smartphones that improved the base model but sold for the same launch price.

Since then, OnePlus has increased its prices, the T versions are generally more expensive, Pro models have appeared and the brand is now targeting entry and mid-range with its Nords. Is there anything left from the old OnePlus? In any case, it seems that the merger with OPPO has accelerated the evolution that it had already begun.

What are the best OnePlus smartphones? 2022 comparison

In its early days, OnePlus only offered one smartphone at a time. Since then, the Chinese brand has come a long way, to offer a much wider range of phones. Today headed by the Oppo brand with which it shares its research and development activities, OnePlus still proclaims its independence loud and clear.
