OnePlus has mainly been releasing high-end Android smartphones for years, but in 2024 the company is mixing things up with the OnePlus 12R. One of OnePlus’ most popular series, especially in India, the R series is intended to offer the best of the features of the brand’s flagship smartphones at a more affordable price. Thus the OnePlus 12R is sold at €700, where the OnePlus costs from €970.
I still have a week before I can share all my impressions of the new OnePlus 12R, only photos of the device turned off being authorized for the moment by the brand. But interested readers can already get a glimpse of the device’s potential by reading this ZDNET review of the OnePlus 12. At CES 2024, we met with OnePlus to test both smartphones. For those who want a OnePlus phone with a high-level camera, you should look at the OnePlus 12, which features a fourth-generation Hasselblad. The OnePlus 12R isn’t as strong in this regard, but it’s also designed, like the OnePlus 12, for gaming and multitasking, with the same powerful cooling system and massive battery. Specifically, the 12R even has a slightly larger battery at 5,500 mAh. Apart from perhaps very specific devices (such as the Blackview BV8900 Pro), it is the most capable of all current consumer smartphones.
