Users of the latest OnePlus smartphones will be able to keep their devices longer than expected.

Software monitoring is one of the points scrutinized with the most attention by future smartphone buyers and OnePlus has decided to tackle this subject.

Your OnePlus smartphone will be updated longer

During a meeting with the European press, which was recently held in London, the Chinese manufacturer announced the extension of the period of major updates for some of its smartphones, without specifying the references concerned.

OnePlus devices will now be guaranteed to receive four years of OxygenOS updates, as well as five years of security patches, from the day the various phones are released.

As a user-oriented company, we make every effort to improve the user experience. With more and more people keeping their devices longer, we want to make sure we can provide this option. This new update policy will allow users access to the latest security and necessary features to power OnePlus’ fast and smooth experience throughout the life of the phone. “said Gary Chen, software manager at OnePlus.

With this new policy, the manufacturer joins Samsung among the good students in terms of software monitoring. The Korean giant had previously announced that it wanted to extend the period of major OneUI updates to four years and five years for security patches.

OxygenOS will be enriched in the coming months with new features

OnePlus also talked about the future of OxygenOS. The manufacturer, a subsidiary of OPPO, seems to have reconsidered its decision to merge its system with ColorOS. The two platforms will be built on a single code, but will retain their differences in terms of interface, ergonomics and functionalities.

At the same time, the company mentioned the next improvements made by OxygenOS 13.1, the future update available in a few weeks on compatible brand smartphones.

The latter will offer improvements in the performance of smartphones, whether in terms of installation time or opening of applications, but also animations, via new artificial intelligence devices.

OxygenOS 13.1 will also bring a vibrant Always-On screen, as well as a Spotify-powered lock screen, with the player constantly displayed on the screen, as well as recommended playlists and podcasts.

OnePlus has finally announced that it is working with Google to implement spatial audio support in its phones.
