OnePlus could drop the “Pro” designation for the OnePlus 11

Plus, Pro, Ultra… The segmentation of ranges is commonplace in the smartphone market. Almost all brands now have a “Pro” line for their products. Some have even gone beyond this designation and moved on to even more upscale versions with the “Ultra” designation. This would potentially be the case for Apple, which could launch its first “Ultra” smartphone with the iPhone 15 next year.

The end of segmentation at OnePlus?

However, for other brands, the time seems to be more simplification than complexity. This is what seems to cross the mind of the OnePlus brand, which would be tried, according to two leakers recognized, to simply abandon the “Pro” suffix for its next flagship, the OnePlus 11. This is reported in particular by Max Jambor, but also the leaker OnLeaks, regularly reliable in this area.

A choice for the greatest number

OnePlus could therefore be on the verge of rationalizing its range and simplifying its offer to consumers. In France, we were only entitled to two high-end models from the brand this year: the OnePlus 10 Pro and the OnePlus 10T. No OnePlus 10 in sight, which could help explain this choice by a need for consistency.

Note that this decision is more justified abroad, especially in Asia, where OnePlus offers a wider range of models and in particular offers variants unknown to us, such as the OnePlus 10R or the OnePlus 10RT, which increase the range. .

This strategy may be reminiscent of that adopted by Xiaomi. At the end of last year, the brand also decided to lighten the name of its smartphones by abandoning the “Mi” particle for the Xiaomi 12.
