In turn, OnePlus will enter the folding smartphone market. The Chinese manufacturer intends to arrive with serious arguments to face the competition.

While Samsung should present its Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 to us at the end of July, OnePlus could unveil its first folding smartphone shortly after the Korean speaks.

OnePlus’ first folding soon to be unveiled?

It all starts in August 2022, when Pete Lau, boss and founder of OnePlus, revealed the first clues as to the arrival of a folding smartphone. Earlier this year, rumors began to evoke the arrival of two models of smartphones with foldable screens. It took until last February for the CEO of the company to finally put an end to the various rumors by confirming that the preparation of a folding smartphone within OnePlus was indeed a reality.

Today, a reliable source, whose information is relayed by the site GSMArena, says that the announcement of this still mysterious device in many respects will be made in the first half of August in New York. As a reminder, the current rumors (which are intended to be relatively reliable) evoke a speech from Samsung set for July 26th. So, if this were to be confirmed, OnePlus could bounce off its competitor’s announcements and perhaps try to steal the show.

Everything we know about the OnePlus Fold

According to the information we have, the OnePlus Fold should have an internal screen of 8 inches with QHD + resolution and an external screen FHD + of 6.5 inches. Both screens would offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Under the hood, we would find a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The device should have a 4,800 mAh battery with 80 W wired charging. Finally, on the camera side, we will logically find a 50 megapixel main sensor with OIS technology, a 48 megapixel wide-angle and a telephoto lens. of 32 megapixels.

Unlike Google’s Pixel Fold, which will not be marketed in France, the One Plus Fold should enjoy an international launch. While we don’t yet know exactly when the device will launch, we do know that it will run Android 13 and the OxygenOS 13.1 overlay. In other words, the latter will unfortunately not support Android 14 at launch.
