OneUI 5.0 and Android 13 for the Galaxy S22 from the end of October

OneUI 5.0 will be available in final version very soon. Samsung’s mobile-only operating system is expected to arrive by the end of October 2022 on the Galaxy S22 range. It was the company itself that announced it at its major conference dedicated to developers.

Samsung is making progress

Behind the many aesthetic and ergonomic changes brought by OneUI 5.0 hides Android 13, the latest version of Google’s mobile OS. As usual, Samsung has put a lick of paint and added some features compared to the version offered by Google, while sticking its overlay name on it. Galaxy S22 owners will therefore be able to taste the various new features of Android, in particular those concerning “privacy, security and productivity”.

This final version of the software appears after a long beta test program (which unfortunately never arrived in France). Samsung will therefore have taken about two months to deploy the new version of Android on its high-end smartphones. A considerable improvement compared to a few years ago.

RAS on the rest of the range

Unfortunately, the manufacturer remained very vague on the fate reserved for the other phones in its range. According to information obtained by the site SamMobile, we know that the Galaxy Fold 3 and 4, the Flip 3 and 4 and the Galaxy S20 and S21, among others, will have the favor of Android 13. That said, the date of availability of the software for these mobiles has not been communicated by Samsung. Only a wave “before 2023” has been mentioned in some rumors. Anyway, Galaxy S22 owners won’t have long to wait to take advantage of the new features cooked up by Samsung and Google.

Remember that the deployment of updates is not only a good way to get new features on your smartphone, but also a critical aspect to improve the durability of the terminal. The more updates a phone receives, the less reason it will have to be scrapped and the less vulnerable it will be to possible security breaches. Samsung has also made commitments by guaranteeing at least four years of updates on a good part of its recent mobiles.
