In a study by the International Center for Sports Studies, Nati captain Granit Xhaka came off second best.

How big is the influence of individual players on the performance of their team? The International Center for Sports Studies (CIES) based in Neuchâtel investigated this question. The scientific study was carried out in 54 leagues and included six criteria, such as ball distribution, duel behavior, enabling scoring opportunities and scoring.

The best performer was Rodri from Manchester City, who achieved an “Impact Score” of 98.5. Granit Xhaka follows right behind with 92.3, ahead of his former Arsenal teammate Martin Odegaard (89.9). Only in fourth place is Florian Wirtz (89.2), whose importance in Leverkusen’s first title is rated lower than that of Xhaka, at least in this survey.
