(CercleFinance.com) – Ontex announces today that it has officially submitted its climate targets to the Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTI). As part of this, the company is committed to achieving carbon neutrality for its operations by 2030.
The company also aims to reduce its own greenhouse gas emissions (also known as scope 1 and 2 emissions) by 50% by 2030, compared to a baseline of 2018.
Ontex aims to achieve these goals by achieving energy savings, producing renewable energy on site, sourcing renewable energy and setting up a carbon offset system through reforestation programs.
The Belgian personal hygiene group also aims to reduce emissions from its global supply chain (scope 3 emissions) by 25% by 2030, compared to the reference year 2020.
Ontex will report on this progress of the combined supply chain as part of its annual report.
