Open-world action-RPG Wuthering Waves announced, Genshin Impact’s real competitor?

Since Genshin Impact has invaded the world of free-to-play, many studios are trying to copy the formula and adapt it to do well. We have seen this with Tower of Fantasy, which is the most talked about given its success in Asia, and which will soon arrive in the West, but other games continue to try to ride this wave. This is the case of the studio Kuro Gamewhich we know for Punishing: Gray Ravenwhich announces today Wuthering Wavesand the resemblance to Genshin Impact is striking.

First gameplay images

We discover here several videos, with a CGI trailer which highlights the protagonist of the game, before focusing on the gameplay in a slightly shorter, but action-packed video.

As we can see in these sequences, the game borrows everything that makes miHoYo’s game unique, replacing climbing with the ability to run on walls. The gameplay also seems to be more dynamic, but we will wait to have more images to eat to really decide.

Kuro Game warns that development is still at an early stageand that what can be seen here does not represent the final product, especially in terms of the quality of the visuals.

Still, the title should necessarily appeal to some insiders of Genshin Impactwho would like to see what other studios can do with this open-world free-to-play gacha formula.

No release date has been announced for Wuthering Wavesnor any platformbut the official site is open.
