This Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Mediapart magazine revealed that the Paris prosecutor’s office opened a new preliminary investigation concerning the actor Gérard Depardieu after a new complaint filed for “sexual assault” by a decorator on a set in 2021.
For several months, the world of cinema, but also of television, has been greatly shaken up. After the accusations of sexual assault targeting the host Cauet, the choreographer Bruno Vandelli, the actor Philippe Caubère and the director Christophe Ruggia, it was above all the actress Judith Godrèche who threw a big stone into the pond by revealing what she had lived during her adolescence facing the directors and actors Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon. Turmoil which did not spare another great French actor, Gérard Depardieu. Accused of sexual assault and rape by numerous women revealed in a Mediapart investigation last April, two women have filed an official complaint against the actor. The actress Charlotte Arnould in 2018 for rape and sexual harassment as well as a film assistant for similar facts dating back to 2014. Shortly after, the actress Hélène Darras also filed a complaint against the actor for sexual assaults that occurred in 2007, but unfortunately dismissed for prescription.

Successive complaints which pushed the news magazine Further investigation devoted an entire issue to the man who calls himself “ monster of French cinema » on December 7. We see very clearly the tendentious behavior and obscene remarks of the actor towards women. A media storm which once again gained momentum as a third complaint was officially filed against the actor on February 23.
Indeed, a decorator who worked on the filming of the filmGreen Shuttersin 2021 then filed a complaint for “sexual assault, sexual harassment and sexist outrage» against Gérard Depardieu. Aged 53, she says that the actor would have “caught with brutality» then he would have “kneaded the waist, the stomach, going up to her breasts» before making sexist remarks against him. An attack which would have been stopped by the actor’s bodyguards.

Facts which are not prescribed as were those of the actress Hélène Darras or even the journalist and writer Ruth Baza for acts of rape dating back to October 1995.
