A Vorarlberg police officer shot a man armed with a knife in Dornbirn on Sunday. The 39-year-old attacked several officials around 12.30 p.m. when they wanted to intervene because of noise pollution reported by the neighbors.
The incident occurred in Gilmstrasse near the Dornbirn main station, the Vorarlberg police informed. The officer shot the man who died on the spot despite attempts at resuscitation.
Investigators from the State Office of Criminal Investigation in Tyrol are now conducting the further surveys on the facts. The crisis intervention team is on duty and the police officers involved are also given psychological support, it said.
