Operation in Laterns – “Wandersmann” crashed with over three per mille

A 33-year-old man fell about 20 meters down a steep slope in Laterns on Wednesday morning. He had to be rescued by mountain rescue and was then flown to Feldkirch State Hospital.

After a night of drinking, the 33-year-old staggered along the old Laternserstrasse towards Batschuns at around 11 a.m. with a friend (37). Probably due to his high level of intoxication – a breathalyzer test carried out later showed a blood alcohol level of over three per mille – he suddenly lost his balance and fell about 20 metres down a steep embankment. He sustained various abrasions all over his body. Due to the steepness of the terrain, he had to be rescued by the mountain rescue team. He was then flown to Feldkirch State Hospital by the crew of the Christophorus 8 rescue helicopter. During the operation, Laternserstrasse was closed to all traffic for around 50 minutes.
