Operation in Liezen – hunters rescued from an alpine emergency

A 36-year-old hunter got into an alpine emergency on Monday afternoon in Sankt Gallen (Liezen district). The man was located by the Landl mountain rescue service and brought to the valley unharmed.

The man from the Liezen district was out hunting in the Hocheck area. While looking for game he had shot, he found himself in very steep, rocky terrain at an altitude of 1000 meters. As it was already dark and the rapid fall was very strong, the 36-year-old made an alpine emergency number (140). The Landl Mountain Rescue, alerted by the Styrian State Warning Center (LWZ), rose to the man. At around 7 p.m., the mountain rescuers were able to locate the hunter unharmed. After a short abseil passage, it was possible to descend independently to his vehicle.
