Operation “Let’s play together”: “We must mediate the disability”, declares the president of Arcom

Encourage audiovisual media, radios, digital media to integrate more sports broadcasts. The “Let’s play together” operation, led by the president of Arcom Roch-Olivier Maistre, will take place from November 14 to 20. A week during which Europe 1 is a partner.

For the second operation of its kind, “direct, subjects or even interviews” will be found on the antennas and waves of various media. The objective is to “highlight players from the world of sport”, declared Roch-Olivier Maistre at the microphone ofEurope 1 Sports.

12 million French people with disabilities

The proportion of the population with disabilities is very often underestimated. “The French are 12 million to present a situation of handicap”, affirmed the president of Arcom before drawing up the sad report: “But the representation of this population on television is today very weak”.

With the “Let’s play together” operation, “the idea is to carry out operations in liaison with the media to improve this situation, to ensure that people with disabilities can access programs. And we must mediate disability” , said Roch-Olivier Maistre on the show Europe 1 Sports.

The challenges of upcoming events

The major event will be Paris 2024. A showcase but also a life-size test for the organizer and Arcom in order to “use all the work done in recent years”. “The 2024 Olympics are a chance. We have to manage to structure something and create a fundamental dynamic so as not to wait every four years”, gave Roch-Olivier Maistre a guideline.

The objective will be achieved when “we will no longer see the disability” because it will be “fully integrated into society”, concluded the president of Arcom.
