Oppenheimer: an atomic trailer for the next Christopher Nolan

After time and space, director Christopher Nolan tackles the story of the creation of the atomic bomb with Oppenheimer. And the impressive trailer for the film, with Cillian Murphy in the title role, has just been unveiled.

At the heart of the bomb

Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of Robert J. Oppenheimerthe next film by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Interstellar, tenet) focuses on the father of the A-bomb. In line with the filmmaker’s previous productions, the film, which promises to propel the viewer to the very heart of the deadly machine, promises to be as visually impressive as it is philosophically profound.

“I have become death, the destroyer of worlds”. It is with these words that Robert Oppenheimer described himself when he saw the damage caused by the atomic bomb that he had helped to design, during its very first detonation which occurred on July 16, 1945 in the desert of New Mexico. This same bomb would later be dropped on the cities of Hiroshima (August 6, 1945) and Nagasaki (August 9, 1945) in Japan.

Twelfth feature film by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer can count on a cast just as explosive as its subject. Besides Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders), we also find Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Matt Damon (Alone on Mars), Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow), Florence Pugh (Black Widow), and Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody).

Oppenheimer will be released on July 19, 2023 in French cinemas.
