Oppenheimer: Stream start announced! When will Christopher Nolan’s film be released on WOW, Netflix and Co.?

In July 2023, “Oppenheimer” and “Barbie” ruled the film world and ensured the strongest cinema summer in years. “Barbie” was ahead in terms of box office – which was to be expected for a film suitable for children – and “Oppenheimer” was the biggest winner at the Golden Globes.

Even though director Christopher Nolan primarily shoots his films for the big screen, interest in the home cinema version of “Oppenheimer” was so great that the first edition of the 4K Blu-Ray in the USA was sold out within a few days. You have been able to watch “Oppenheimer” in the stream since mid-November 2023. Amazon, iTunes/Apple TV and numerous other VOD providers make it easy for you to catch up on one of the biggest film highlights of the past year.

However, six months after the cinema release, a release on a streaming service can be expected soon, which will avoid additional rental costs, right?

When is “Oppenheimer” coming to Netflix and Co.?

As a Universal film, “Oppenheimer” has a permanent home, at least in the USA. The film will be shown there on Peacock from February 16, 2024. Peacock is no longer available in Germany; instead, “Oppenheimer” can initially be seen in this country on Sky and WOW. The film will be available on the Sky streaming service on March 10, 2024.

Netflix and Amazon Prime Video could theoretically also show “Oppenheimer”, but the film will not end up there directly, but at most one day. So you need a lot of patience here or you just decide to rent the film from Amazon.
