Oppo A57 5G: the revamped version of the A56 5G is available in China

Oppo often offers new smartphone models, especially for its entry-level. This is the case with the new A57 5G, a low-cost phone taking advantage of 5G. The device will release first in China, where it’s currently up for pre-order, with a sales launch tomorrow. It presents itself as a more powerful version of the A56 5G, a model that was not released in France.

The Oppo A57 5G therefore has a new SoC, the Dimensity 810 from MediaTek engraved in 6 nm. It is offered with 8 GB of RAM (and up to 5 GB of additional virtual RAM) and 128 GB of storage, with the possibility of adding a microSD card. On the software side, ColorOS 12 (Android 12) is installed natively.

The resolution of the 6.56-inch LCD panel still tops out at 720 x 1612 pixels, but at least benefits from a refresh at 90 Hz. The color range has been improved.

On the camera, no big noticeable change compared to the previous A56 5G. It is a double sensor which is proposed at the back: one of 13 Mpx and another for the depth, of 2 Mpx. The video is capable of going up to 30 frames per second, no more.

Good surprise however on the battery: it has a capacity of 5000 mAh. For charging, it will apparently be content with 10 W wired. A headphone jack is available, as well as a side fingerprint reader, unlike NFC which is conspicuous by its absence. Oppo has also implanted a second antenna to ensure a good connection when the user holds his phone in landscape mode.

It is not known if this model will ever be offered in Europe. For the moment, it is available for pre-order only in China, at a price of 1,500 yuan, or around 215 euros, for its 8+128 GB version. Three colors are available for the Oppo A57 5G: black, blue and lilac.
