It’s done, OPPO announces its long-awaited return to the French market. After a one-year break, the Chinese manufacturer will return with the launch of its new Reno 12.
OPPO will soon (re)launch a complete range of smartphones in France, starting with its new Reno 12 series. These smartphones will focus on design, on the photo section, but also (and above all?) on a brand new suite of generative AI functions. “ We view our presence in France as a commitment to long-term success “, said Bingo Liu, CEO of OPPO Europe.
OPPO and France, a divorce that dates back to last year
Remember, it was a year ago, the distributor Yang Technology sounded the death knell for the OPPO brand in France. At issue, a lawsuit opposing the company to the Nokia brand, concerning a case of patent violation.
While Nokia had just won its case in Germany, and fearing a similar decision in France, OPPO decided to close shop. Despite Nokia’s defeat in France, the brand has not resumed its activities… until today!
Indeed, the brand has very recently formalized its return to the French market, which will be accompanied by new smartphones from the Reno 12 range. After a one-year commercial break, during which only after-sales service was maintained, the brand therefore returns to French soil.
And here comes OPPO again with its Reno 12 range!
To mark its return, OPPO will launch its new Reno 12 series in Europe, during an event (OPPO A.Island) which will take place this June 18, near Ibiza in Spain. The brand promises smartphones equipped with “ a strong focus on the camera ”, without forgetting of course a whole suite of functions based on generative AI.
Smartphones powered by AI, the prices or even the technical characteristics of which we do not yet know. OPPO recently sealed various partnerships with Google, MediaTek, and Microsoft for AI in its smartphones.
The new OPPO Reno 12 should be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, and be built around a large 6.7-inch OLED screen, compatible with 120 Hz. The photo section should consist of a wide-angle sensor of 50 mpx, a 50 mpx x2 telephoto lens, without forgetting an 8 mpx ultra wide-angle. The smartphone should be available in a standard version as well as a Pro version.
Recall that the OPPO brand began its journey in Europe in 2018, with the Find X launch event at the Louvre Museum, making France a special place for the brand.

- Overall performance
- Screen quality
- Hardly noticeable bend in the slab
OPPO’s first European foray into the field of folding smartphones, the Find N2 Flip is a success in many respects. We particularly appreciate its design and ergonomics, which are very effective, even if they are very “inspired” by what Samsung produces.
The hinge mechanism developed by OPPO helps minimize the impact of folding on the AMOLED panel. This also produces a very beautiful image. The external screen, just as good, benefits from generous dimensions. It’s a shame that it is currently under-exploited.
We particularly liked the overall performance, comfortable battery life, ultra-fast charging and photo quality in good brightness. It’s a shame, however, that its price is so high, even if it remains more affordable than its competitors.
