Oppo formalizes its Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro, two Dimensity-boosted smartphones

Oppo held a conference in China to formalize the Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro, two mid-range models with a MediaTek chip.

Two identical smartphones, with a few exceptions

The Oppo Reno 8 Pro, spearhead of the series, features a 6.7-inch Amoled panel, benefiting from FHD + definition and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. No mention has been made as to adaptive refresh, as offered on the Find X5 Pro. The screen with fairly thin borders offers a display surface of more than 93%, which is one of the most comfortable on the market.

The smartphone is equipped with a Dimensity 8100 Max chip, a SoC engraved in 5 nm and supported by the in-house processor, the Oppo MariSilicon X; enough to offer photo processing as qualitative as on the Find X5 range. On the photo side, precisely, this Reno 8 Pro adopts the 50-megapixel Sony IMX 766 sensor on its main module. It comes with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel macro lens. On the front is a 32-megapixel selfie module (IMX 709).

The oppo Reno 8, on the other hand, benefits from a similar photo configuration, less the MariSilicon X. The Pro model should therefore keep a head start in terms of photo quality. The smartphone sports a 6.4-inch Amoled panel, with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and FHD + definition. On the chip side, there is a MediaTek Dimensity 1300, accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.

These two smartphones carry a battery with a capacity of 4,500 mAh. Each comes with a block delivering fast charging at 80 W, enough to regain half of its autonomy in 11 minutes. Oppo specifies that 5 minutes of charging is enough to gain 2 hours of use.

The Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro will soon be available in China and India. An international marketing does not seem to be planned for the moment, but no doubt we will know more by the end of the summer.
