Oppo is reportedly working on its very first tablet, scheduled for 2022

The touch pad market has seen a nice upturn in 2021, and a good part of Chinese manufacturers are now working on their own slate. This is the case of Oppo, which is seriously considering the issue.

Touch pads are popular again. Evidenced by the enthusiasm of Chinese manufacturers, who all seem to want to have such a device in their catalog. This is also the case of Oppo, currently at work on its very first slate: the Oppo Pad.

The MySmartPrice site indicates that the firm plans to launch a tablet in India and China in the first half of 2022. Aware that the market is mainly divided between products costing less than €250 or more than €600, Oppo is preparing a model mid-range with an interesting technical sheet. The opportunity to compete with Xiaomi and its very nice Xiaomi Pad 5, which turns out to be an excellent alternative in this price segment.

Indeed, the tablet has appeared on the Geekbench site, under the model number OPD2101. We discover that it is powered by a Snapdragon 870 (engraved in 7 nm) coupled with 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The SoC includes an Adreno 650 GPU, which shows good performance in video games.

The set runs on Android 11, which seems disappointing, Android 12 being already available. However, that could change closer to its release. This model would also allow the brand to develop a multi-platform ecosystem and thus create connections between the different products in its range. One screenshot of the interface has moreover been shared by the leaker Mukul Sharma on his Twitter account.

The site had previously announced that the tablet would be equipped with an 11-inch IPS LCD panel, displaying in 2560 x 1600 pixels, and offering a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

On the photo side, we should be entitled to a 13 Mpx Hynix Hi336 dorsal sensor as well as an 8 Mpx module at the front dedicated to selfies and videoconferencing. The tablet would be compatible with fast charging at 33 W, but the battery capacity remains to be specified.

The price of the Oppo device would be around 23,000 Indian rupees, which is equivalent to €270 excluding tax. If the tablet were to be marketed in France, the price should be much higher. The rest of the technical sheet will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
