Oppo takes fast in-car charging to the next level with this 80W charger

Oppo just launched a brand new fast car charger some time ago. Called SuperVOOC 80 W, it offers, as its name suggests, a power of 80 W. Enough to reach 100% on a OnePlus 10 Pro in just under 45 minutes.

As you may know, Oppo and its subsidiary OnePlus regularly innovate in the field of fast charging. The two manufacturers shine on this point, in particular thanks to SuperVOOC technology. In March 2022, Oppo introduced the SuperVOOC 150, a 150W fast charge capable of charging full 4500 mAh battery in just 15 minutes.

However, Oppo has decided to integrate its fast charging technology into a brand new car charger called Oppo SuperVOOC 80W. The main attraction of this accessory is that it has two ports, namely a USB-A port and a USB-C port which also works in USB PD (for Power Delivery). This is a charging protocol that allows USB-C cables and connectors to deliver substantial power to your devices. This standard offers many advantages:

  • power up to 100 W
  • optimization of the power supply according to the devices
  • Intelligent and flexible power management, via an optional communication hub available on PC

The power of Oppo fast charging in your car

As explained by our colleagues from the Android Central site who have been able to try it for some time, this charger offers welcome versatility. The USB-A port, compatible with SuperVOOC technology, can reach 80 W while the USB-C port reaches 30 W in USB PD 3.0. On compatible devices like the OnePlus 10 Pro, the USB-A port does its job perfectly, with a full recharge achieved in less than 45 minutes.

And thanks to USB PD technology, Oppo’s charger offers performance equivalent to a conventional 33 W USB PD wall charger on many devices such as the Nothing (1), the Galaxy Z Flip 4 or the S22 Ultra. Note that it is possible to use both ports at the same time, to charge two smartphones for example.

In this specific case, the power of USB-A drops to 33W, while that of USB-C drops to 30W. Which is still more than enough to quickly recharge your devices. Oppo’s accessory includes the usual protections against overcurrents and overvoltages, while it offers a mechanical fail-safe to shut off the power if it exceeds the thermal stresses of your device. It is available on the official Oppo store at the price of €49.99.
