Optional S-Pen, 108 Mpx sensor… The contours of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 are becoming clearer

Samsung is betting a lot on its next generation of folding smartphones. And many rumors are already surrounding the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Samsung, which bet very early on the folding smartphone, logically dominates the sector. But the resistance is getting organized and many competing brands will unveil their models in the months to come. The South Korean giant therefore intends to maintain its lead by improving the recipe initiated by the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip each year. Several rumors concerning the first have already leaked on the net.

A more compact smartphone

The famous leaker Ice Universe believes that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 should undergo a slimming cure. It is true that with its generous dimensions and its 271 g, the device is particularly imposing. It is also quite complicated to store in a pocket. The firm seems to have understood this and would like to offer an even finer design.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 was the first smartphone compatible with the S-Pen stylus. A wise choice as the screen, once unfolded, lends itself to this type of accessory. The 7.6-inch OLED panel improves overall productivity, and the stylus makes it easy to edit documents on the fly. Earlier this year, a rumor also announced that the new model would natively host the S-Pen.

According to the leaker, this will not be the case. The integration of a location for the S-Pen would contradict the desire to refine the smartphone. When closed, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 measures between 14.4mm and 16mm. Adding such a location would help increase this waistline, while the competition tends to reduce it. This is for example the case of the Vivo X Fold or the Oppo Find N. This choice therefore seems plausible.

New ambitions in photography?

Samsung could on the other hand operate a move upmarket on the photo component of this model. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 opted for a triple 12-megapixel sensor of good quality, but not transcendent. Two South Korean leakers have announced that the Z Fold 4 will be equipped with the same configuration as the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

We would therefore be entitled to a 108-megapixel Isocell HM3 sensor, measuring 1/1.33 inch with 0.8 µm pixels. The opportunity to offer an experience as qualitative as on its most premium “standard” model. It remains to be seen whether the same telephoto module will also be in the game…
