Orange’s mobile network suffered a breakdown “since mid-afternoon” on Tuesday, AFP confirmed to the operator, who recommends calling 112 to contact emergency services.

“Calls via the Orange mobile network in France have been disrupted since mid-afternoon. Fixed telephony and mobile internet services are fully functional,” an Orange spokesperson told AFP. .

“In the event of an emergency, Orange recommends calling 112, which works normally. A limited impact may disrupt calls to other emergency numbers (15, 17, 18)”, he added.

“Orange is fully mobilized to restore calls as soon as possible. Investigations are underway to determine the origin of this incident,” added the same source.

In June 2021, the Orange operator had experienced major unprecedented malfunctions of emergency numbers – numbers 15, 17, 18 and 112 were inaccessible to many French people or reachable only after multiple attempts.
