The operator Orange and the insurer BNP Paribas Cardif announced on Monday that they had strengthened their partnership to offer new guarantees for their mobile insurance. And thus expand the latter beyond traditional claims.

Since 1er February 2024, Orange’s mobile insurance, which can range from 1.99 to 20.99 euros per month depending on the smartphone you decide to protect, offers two new guarantees: breakdown, and battery. These are in addition to the protections against theft, breakage and oxidation, covered until now. Customers who choose to insure an iPhone can now benefit from a free 50 GB iCloud+ envelope. This is an initiative aimed at extending the lifespan of mobile phones.

Less stress for Orange mobile insurance subscribers who break down or need to change their battery

Orange mobile insurance covers all the smartphones you wish to insure: those purchased from the historic operator or from one of its competitors, such as new or refurbished devices. And the new customers of the offer have been spoiled since the 1er February, because they can also benefit from repairing their mobile in the event of a breakdown, even once the commercial warranty period has ended.

Orange and BNP Paribas Cardif have added another element to their mobile insurance: changing the battery, at no additional cost, in the event that it falls below 80% of its initial capacity.

For iPhone fans, the offer includes a bonus of 50 GB of iCloud+, for better storage of photos, videos and files from Apple phones. This can be seen as an additional incentive for customers looking for extended protection based on their choice of smartphone.

A fairly quick repair or replacement process

In practice, the repair procedure has been simplified, with delays ranging from 2 to 24 hours for a local repair, and on average 5 days if your smartphone must be arranged in a specialized repair center. Note that firstly, the insurer must record your report of breakdown, breakage or other, then accept it, before Orange redirects you to the right place.

In the event of theft, customers benefit from a replacement mobile within 24 hours of acceptance of the claim. Orange and BNP Paribas wanted a rapid response to be provided, to mitigate the disruption caused by the loss of the phone.

Concerning this joint offer from the Orange and BNP Paribas Cardif companies, Guillaume de Riberolles, director of financial products and services at Orange, discusses the operator’s desire to “ offer an offer that goes beyond traditional insurance coverage “. Perhaps a future winning bet.
