Orange: the EU validates the acquisition of VOO and Brutélé

(CercleFinance.com) – After an in-depth investigation, the European Commission today announced that it has authorized the planned acquisition of VOO and Brutélé by Orange.

Until then, the commission was concerned about the potential competition problems that this operation would generate.

In order to address these concerns, Orange has undertaken to provide Telenet for at least 10 years with access to the existing fixed network infrastructure that it acquires from VOO and Brutélé in the Walloon Region and in certain parts of Brussels.

Orange is also committed to providing Telenet with the future fiber optic network (FTTP) to be deployed in the coming years, which will make the commitments permanent.

The Commission therefore concluded that the proposed transaction, as modified by the commitments, would no longer raise competition concerns.
