INTERVIEW

A presidential election marked by the European question. Marine Le Pen, candidate of the National Rally in the presidential election, was the guest of the device “The appointment of the presidential”. While the National Rally candidate recently received the support of Hungarian leader Viktor Orban, she maintains that the “fight which opposes her to the European Union represents sovereignty, that is to say the desire to have that which is respected People”. On Europe 1, Marine Le Pen defended her vision of Europe.

A “European alliance of free and sovereign nations which decide to cooperate together, which refuse to have rules imposed by the European Union which run counter to their choice of society” in opposition to a “federalist Europe, with a sort of unelected executive which would impose its rules on all countries with the aim of standardizing them”. According to the RN candidate, “if we do not have a Europe of nations, then Europe will disappear in its diversity”.

A vote to assert national sovereignty

In his view, the forthcoming decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union regarding Hungary on respect for the rule of law will be decisive. “The Court of Justice seems to want to take an extremely harsh position,” she said. For the RN candidate, this upcoming standoff will raise the question in France of what Europe we want. And for her, there is no doubt: “I will be on the side of Hungary, as I was on the side of Poland” when the latter was condemned for having said “that the national constitution is superior to any text of European or international nature”. If elected, Marine Le Pen wants the French to give their opinion on the matter.

On the merits of the dispute between Brussels and Hungary, Marine Le Pen believes that “when you want to get rid of your dog, you accuse him of rabies”. Marine Le Pen affirms that the “European Union takes any excuse against Poland and against Hungary”; because according to her, these two countries “are opposed to only one thing: the immigration that Europe wants to impose on them”.
