Orpea: a director of establishment landed after opening its doors to the press

Vincent Dupin, former director of an Ehpad of the Orpea group, claims to have been dismissed from his post on Wednesday for not having respected the press relations protocol of the national headquarters. Orpea denies and evokes a “reflection in progress for several weeks” concerning his case.

As we know, in times of crisis, the press is not always welcome. It is not uncommon for organisations, groups and companies to centralize requests from the media in order to respond in unity, to “come together” in the face of the storm. But, in this case, we seem to be flirting with overzealousness. According to information from Journal of Saone-et-Loirethe director of an Ehpad of the Orpea group would have been thanked this week after he let journalists enter his establishment without the agreement of the national headquarters.

Vincent Dupin, 37 and director of nursing homes for ten years, lost his job “Wednesday at 12:15 p.m.” when he ran the “les Almatides” residence in Châtenoy-le-Royal, in Saône-et-Loire. According to him, his eviction is directly linked to his communication strategy diametrically opposed to Orpea’s media tactics. Where the group intends to forward all requests from the press to the national headquarters in order to validate them before responding to them, Vincent Dupin wanted to play the transparency card by opening the doors of his establishment to journalists from the local press. .

For him, the Orpea group does not adopt “the right strategy” by choosing “to put oneself in a vacuum”, “to pretend to be a little ostrich while things settle down”. His objective was, on the contrary, to show that within his establishment, everything is going well. “The approach was sincere and honest”, explains Vincent Dupin to France Inter. “Obviously, it did not please others.”

“We will end the contract there”

Because, problem, when the director of establishment receives the reporters Wednesday, February 2 in the middle of the morning, the regional director of Orpea unexpectedly points the tip of his nose. The visit goes well but, after the departure of the journalists, the regional director informs the future ex-director of the establishment that he did not like the scene at all. “We will end the contract there”, we explain to him. Vincent Dupin has five minutes, watch in hand, to gather his things and leave the premises.

With France Inter, the management of Orpea explains that “The termination of the director’s trial period has absolutely no connection with the fact that he exchanged with journalists or even forgot to inform his superiors of their arrival”. The group claims that“a reflection had been underway for two weeks and the decision was finally taken the day before his arrival, the date on which the regional director printed the letter with which he went to the residence”.

The director general of Orpea, Yves Le Masne, had already been dismissed from his post last Sunday. The group of retirement homes has been in turmoil since January 24 due to the publication of a damning investigation into its practices.

Contacted by Releasethe management of Orpea had not yet given an answer at the time of publication of this article.
