Orpea: publication coordinated by Emmanuel Hirsch

(Boursier.com) — Ethics are at the heart of the Group’s refoundation plan ORPEA presented on November 15, 2022… As soon as he took office, Laurent Guillot, Chief Executive Officer, drove the reconstruction of a company whose management, care and support practices must be guided by clear ethical principles and shared by all Group employees. This ethical requirement is fully in line with ORPEA’s new medical project, developed under the aegis of Professor Pierre Krolak-Salmon, Group Medical Director.

This project will identify and implement the most appropriate responses to the challenges of care and support for today and tomorrow.. The ORPEA group’s approach is based on three pillars: a Medical Commission, an international and interdisciplinary Scientific Council, made up of experts to support the best level of medical and healthcare practices, and an Ethics Advisory Council responsible for providing operational responses. to questions from ORPEA teams, residents and patients as well as their relatives who place their trust in the Group’s establishments.

First publication

In this context, and on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the National Consultative Ethics Committee for Life and Health Sciences, ORPEA announces the publication of “ETHICS WITH YOU AND FOR YOU”. The group is delighted that this collection of testimonials and analyses, collected from its professionals in the field (doctors, caregivers, psychologists), from its patients and residents and their relatives, also includes contributions from qualified outside personalities (philosophers, caregivers, academics).

This first publication, coordinated by Professor Emmanuel Hirsch, Group Ethics Director, is available on the ORPEA Group website: www.orpea-group.com. Various themes are addressed in particular: the ethics of hospitality and care, well-treatment, old age and social inclusion and the end of life…

Emmanuel Hirsch specifies: “Involving ethics at the heart of the Group’s mission, in all establishments: aftercare and rehabilitation clinics, nursing homes, mental health clinics, is a commitment that requires the recognition of responsibilities, by the ability to listen and by an exemplary involvement in the service of those who seek care. This is why it is necessary to overhaul and strengthen the culture of well-treatment as closely as possible to the know-how of employees so that everyone can grasp the issues, appropriate it and act with values of dignity, respect and benevolence.”

The 72,000 employees of the ORPEA Group, working on a daily basis in more than 1,000 establishments throughout the world, take part in the care of people affected by chronic illnesses, disabilities, fragile mental health, loss of autonomy or even severe dependency. ETHICS WITH YOU AND FOR YOU aims to support employees in the daily performance of their duties.
