A 4-year-old boy was seriously burned after the foam in his bath caught fire.

In Newton-le-Willows, a small town in England, a terrible accident took place. At the age of 4, Oscar was wisely taking his bath with his mother Nicola, when suddenly the bathtub caught fire. The foam, present in the bath, came into contact with a candle located nearby, quickly the soap bubbles turned into flames, creating, according to Jonathan, the father of the young boy, a huge ball of fire. Oscar found himself completely engulfed in flames, leaving him badly burned.

“We just had to keep dabbing him with cold water and towels while he was sitting there screaming in pain.”, said Jonathan, the father of the family, after the child came out of the water.
Oscar was then rushed to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where he was treated for several days.

A terrifying experience

For Oscar as for his parents, this experience will remain engraved, from a physical point of view but also mentally.

“It affected him mentally, he hasn’t had a bath since, and he’s been more angry since it happened and stuff like that.”, confided the father of the family, to Liverpool Echo.

But the young boy recovered very quickly and did not need a skin transplant.
The soap used by Oscar was purchased from an Earlstown branch of Home Bargains. A spokesperson for the distribution giant said the company could not provide an explanation for legal reasons.
Jonathan and Nicola are now in contact with the Fieldfisher law firm regarding the incident. They claim there was not sufficient warning that the product could ignite.
