Because of the corona pandemic, the Oscars cannot take place from the Dolby Theater as usual. A new concept was needed.

The 93rd Oscars ceremony will look different than usual due to the corona pandemic. Not only has the latest date ever been chosen with the shift to April 25th, the conditions of participation are also less strict. And now the Academy has announced that the venue will not be the same either. Instead of only from the Dolby Theater as usual, the award ceremony will be broadcast live from different locations, including the Dolby Theater, according to a statement by the organizers on Wednesday.

"In this unique year that demands so much from so many, the Academy is determined to present an Academy Awards like no other while making health and safety a priority," a spokesman said in a press release.

These award shows also have new concepts

The prestigious gala usually takes place in February, in 2021 it was originally scheduled for the 28th. Other award ceremonies have also set up new concepts in order to cope with the corona pandemic. The comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler present the 78th Golden Globes from New York and Los Angeles. The Prime Time Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, were also broadcast from various locations last September.
