Dunes and CODA dominate the debates
This Sunday, March 27, the 94and the Oscars ceremony came as always to celebrate the best of world cinema. Let’s not beat around the bush: CODAthe American adaptation of the French film The Aries Family (2014), won the statuette for best film, but also that of best adapted screenplay. Actor Troy Kotsur also embarks the award for best supporting actor, and the film to win all the categories in which he was nominated. A nice blow for the Apple TV+ streaming platform, which owns the rights.
the Dunes by Dennis Villeneuve, from the top of his 10 nominations, walks away with six awards that highlight his technical solidity: best visual effects, best photography, best editing, sound editing, best sets and best music for Hans Zimmer.
The Disney studio is not left out with Encantowhich dominates the category of animated films, while Will Smith is celebrated best actor in The Williams MethodJessica Chastain best actress in In The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
Finally, despite its nomination in 12 categories where it could have won, the western The Power of the Dog from Netflix “only” leaves with the statuette for best achievement for Jane Campion (which remains one of the most prestigious awards of the ceremony).
