Other projects – New substation supplies Transalpine oil pipeline

With the new substation in the Gruben district, Tinetz (Tiroler Netze GmbH) is expanding its power grid. The infrastructure is intended to ensure the smooth operation of the pumping station of the Transalpine Oil Pipeline (TAL) and to replace the more than 60-year-old substation. New projects together with the Austrian Power Grid AG (APG) are being planned.

The old substation in the Tauern Valley worked at full speed for 60 years. In April 2020 the end of the technical service life was reached. “The biggest challenge was to ensure the unrestricted operation of the TAL during the construction period,” reports Tinetz project manager Stefan Schupfer. Completion took place in December. High investment With 5.5 million euros, a lot of money was put into the new building and into the security of supply. To save space, the 110 kV switchgear was integrated into the factory. Two other transformers, erected next to the main building, convert the voltage for the oil line pumps. The plant is supplied via the high-voltage line from Lienz.Independence is to be expandedRegional Energy Councilor Josef Geisler emphasizes the importance of the investments: “Independence and independence will be further expanded with an additional substation in the Iseltal valley and the planned hydropower projects.”Other projects are planned together with APG the Tinetz an additional substation in Matrei. “In this way, the grid stability for the Iseltal and the entire district can be secured in the long term,” emphasizes Managing Director Thomas Rieder. Proceedings are currently pending. The start of construction for the project, which costs around 40 million euros, is planned for 2023.
