The new Minister of National Education Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, at the heart of a controversy linked to the schooling of her children, was booed and whistled upon her arrival Tuesday at the Littré public school, from where she had withdrawn her eldest son to put him in the private sector, noted AFP. The minister, with a closed face, arrived around 11:45 a.m. before entering without a word into the school located in a narrow street in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.
Amélie Oudéa-Castéra was greeted with a chorus of boos, whistles and pots and pans by around thirty people demonstrating “in defense of public schools”. “Do like your children, go back to the private sector,” one of the demonstrators told him when he arrived. “We have had enough of this policy, which destroys public schools, only runs for money,” chanted the demonstrators.
