On paper, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti makes some sacrifices around its VRAM: 8 GB of VRAM seems low in 2023, especially associated with a 128-bit memory bus which will limit bandwidth. A 16 GB version will be offered by Nvidia’s partners in the coming months.
This blockage around VRAM comes in particular from the transition to new game consoles which integrate 16 GB of unified very high-speed memory. Games are therefore more and more greedy in VRAM. Nvidia promises us that its research work around the ability to compress textures by AI should correct this problem in the future, as the DLSS was able to do for the rise in definition.
Pending the realization of these projects, we can admit that 8 GB of VRAM for a card aiming for Full HD definition should be enough for the moment. The VRAM limitation is more problematic on higher-end graphics cards that target 4K.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GBDesign: a quality Founders Edition
The first good surprise is that Nvidia offers a Founders Edition for its GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti uses the same chassis as the GeForce RTX 4070 and the design used on the RTX 3000 generation. Its design is very neat and the integration is fairly simple in a case. The only downside is the integration of the power socket on the side of the graphics card. It is more convenient when it is placed at the back. A detail that does not really taint the excellence of a Founders Edition.

Cyberpunk 2077
CDProjekt Red’s open world is still one of the most demanding games available on PC. We ran the in-game benchmark at Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels with maximum graphics options, including the ray tracing. Thanks to DLSS 3, the game runs at an average of 118 frames per second with very high fluidity.
We also tested the activation of the mode Path Tracing, known for bringing machines to their knees. With DLSS 3, the game still runs at 72 frames per second on average. A great performance.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a gourmet game of the old generation. It represents what games adapted from the PlayStation 4 can give on a PC. In Full HD, with the settings at maximum, we obtain an average of 100 frames per second without the DLSS.
Forza Horizon 5
Microsoft’s car game still puts a visual slap in the face. The title is rather optimized for AMD platforms like the Xbox Series X. In Full HD with the settings at maximum, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is capable of outputting 138 frames per second. This card is therefore able to maintain a high level of performance in the most nervous games.

Nvidia makes no concessions on the encoding engine on this graphics card. Like other Ada Lovelace cards, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti offers hardware decoding and encoding of AV1 in addition to H.264 and HEVC.

If you have this card and your power supply can support 40 W more, the upgrade might be justified. Consumption is therefore similar here to that of the GeForce RTX 2060.
