Product: Pop popcorn in delicious flavors

Price: 4.90 euros per 100 g

To use: Enjoy crisp popcorn at the next movie night, while reading or on the go. Actually everywhere.

Application: The popcorn variants come in exciting creations. In addition to more classic sweet combinations such as dark chocolate with almonds, there is also the vegan creation Earl Gray-Lime, which is very refreshing and an absolute treat for tea lovers like me. I don’t even need to turn on a movie, I also like to have the popcorn ready in a bowl next to me as a snack between meals. Other flavors include butterscotch Tahitian vanilla or peanut butter salted caramel. And that’s just a small selection of the flavors that I’ve discovered for myself. The resealable bags also keep the popcorn fresh for several days (they didn’t last a week for me because the contents were already empty).

Conclusion: The types of popcorn are terrific and I will definitely stop by the store on my next trip to Berlin. For me, as an absolute film lover, it is a wonderful gift to myself. The finest self-care with variations that are produced in a climate-neutral manner, which are even packed by social institutions in Berlin. Just hand jemacht in Berlin – corn without genetic engineering included. A great product from start to finish and incredibly tasty. I’ll probably test my way through the entire range…

Plastic-free chewing pleasure

GREEN WEEK: Sustainable editorial highlights in October 2022

Product: Forest gum

Price: 1.39 euros per 20 g

To use: Chew gum without worry. A faithful companion that finds its place in every bag.

Application: For me, chewing gum has become an indispensable part of food. However, the thought of microplastic particles that get into my body through chewing conventional chewing gum remains, which is why an alternative had to be found. The chewing gum from the Forest Gum brand consists of 100 percent plant-based ingredients and is therefore biodegradable. The fact that it can return to nature is due to the plant-based chewing base chicle. This substance forms the basis and is more precisely the sap of the pulp apple tree. The vegan and sugar-free gums are available in classic flavors such as mint and eucalyptus menthol, but also exotic flavors such as mango, berries and cassis mint. There is something for every taste preference!

Conclusion: The chewing experience is not much different than that of a “normal” gum. I’m thrilled and the small square package has found a permanent place in every pocket of mine. Fresh breath in everyday life and an experience for the sense of taste are guaranteed. And even more important: A chewing gum that is truly environmentally conscious from production to the finished product.

Product: Nucao Chocolate Bar – Salted Caramel

Price: 2.49 euros

To use: Organic, vegan, fair trade and packaged in home-compostable cellulose and paper – it couldn’t be more fun to eat chocolate. And the eye is also spoiled with the great product designs.

Application: Simply remove from the compostable packaging, separate out the chocolate pieces – and enjoy!

Conclusion: The combination of sea salt, caramel and dark chocolate just doesn’t get old – and it’s also completely vegan. This chocolate is definitely my favorite, but there are so many other delicious Nucao products worth trying.

That sounds fair

Lifestyle must-have: Fairphone headphones

Colleague Susanne never wants to give up her Bluetooth headphones again.

Product: Fairphone earbuds

Price: 99.95 euros

To use: Enjoy sound – and do it sustainably with the fair true wireless headphones made of recycled plastic.

Application: Charge it up, switch it on and put it in your ears.

Conclusion: The major goal of the fair tech pioneer “Fairphone” is to gradually develop audio devices in a more sustainable way. And they have definitely succeeded with these sustainable earbuds. The Bluetooth headphones definitely keep the promise of a long battery life. I was very surprised at how long they last. I felt like I had my old headphones on the charging station every other day, but these last up to a week with daily use of one to two hours. What also convinced me is the minimal shipping packaging made entirely of recycled paper. And there is no need for a separate charging cable, which I remember very positively. Since there are stacks of charging cables for various devices at my house. And so of course I already had the right USB-C cable for the headphones in stock anyway. In addition, the earbuds and charging station are made from 30% recycled plastic and the gold used comes from a certified fair trade supply chain. In addition, there is the compensation of electronic waste for the purchase of each pair of Fairphone headphones. Spare parts can be reordered online – so nothing stands in the way of long-term use. And the most important thing about headphones – the sound is just wonderfully balanced. I can heartily recommend this product to everyone.

Product: “My Brookies” baking mix from Biovegan

Price: 3.99 euros for 320 grams

To use: Biovegan offers delicious organic baking mixes. The list of ingredients is straightforward and it is easy to make.

Application: The preparation follows the instructions. The front says which products I need in addition to the mixture: margarine and soy drink. Despite two pieces of dough, the preparation takes less than 20 minutes for the Brookies, and baking is also quick.

Conclusion: Even as I smell the sweet baking scent, I can hardly wait for the Brookies to be ready. After 22 minutes the time has come and the Brookies look fantastic. Now just wait for it to cool down. The taste test also confirms: really tasty. The brownies are super juicy and chocolaty, the cookies on top are crunchy and chewy, a perfect mix. What’s particularly great is that the ingredients are not only organic, but the list of ingredients is also short and doesn’t contain any unspeakable rubbish, as is often the case with baking mixes. Sure, this sweet isn’t healthy either, it contains sugar, but it’s worth every sin.
