Out and about in the stadium – BMW is broadcasting the Bundesliga live on the 7er

The Bundesliga game between Leipzig and Bayern Munich wasn’t top class, but it was exciting and never boring. The special thing about the match: BMW broadcast it live in the new BMW 7 Series – on the curved display directly in the cockpit. They will do this regularly from now on.

The Bundesliga in-car app is loaded onto the new 7 Series over-the-air – free of charge. In the future, a live game will be broadcast there for Germany, Austria and Switzerland every second matchday. In other countries, there are three games every match day. For safety reasons, you can only watch the curved display when you are stationary. However, you can also benefit from it when you are on the go, because: With the help of AI algorithms, so-called in-match highlights are generated during the game. Highlights of the course of the game are recorded automatically and then immediately made available as short clips with English commentary via the “Live Ticker” via the app in the vehicle. The customer can then watch these clips from time to time, for example during longer traffic light phases. As soon as the vehicle is moving again, the playback is automatically stopped. In this way, the BMW driver does not miss an important game situation and is as close to the game as possible in the car. To use video streaming of the Bundesliga In Car app, the personal eSIM must be activated in the vehicle and the user needs a suitable mobile phone contract. The signal for the high-speed football streaming then comes into the car via the integrated 5G antennas. For the time being, you cannot see the games on the 31-inch megascreen on the back seats, but the Munich-based company is already working on that Test operation intended, the Bundesliga in-car app continuously developed. Use in other series is also planned. The duration of the pilot is initially scheduled until March 31, 2024.
