The 7th season of the Starz series “Outlander” has a lot of episodes and is therefore being released in two parts. You can find out what we know so far about Part 2 from us.
The US broadcaster Starz is giving “Outlander” a seventh extra-long season. The season consists of 16 episodes, which will be broadcast in two parts. But it will be the penultimate season, because the 8th season of “Outlander” represents the big series finale.
Outlander Season 7: Start Date
The first part of “Outlander” season 7 has already been broadcast by US broadcaster Starz in summer 2023. Find out what happened in our episode guide. Part 2 of the season will follow in November 2024 with another 8 episodes, about a year and a half after part 1. There is no specific start date yet.
“Outlander” is not yet shown on free TV in this country. Season 7 can already be purchased on streaming services Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Magenta TV and iTunes. However, viewers will have to wait for the seventh season of “Outlander” to be released on Netflix.
Season 6 premiered on April 16, 2023 on the German pay-TV broadcaster Universal TV, but only a year after the US broadcast. It is still unclear whether season 7 will also be shown on Universal TV.
Outlander Season 7: Trailer Part 2
There is now a short teaser for the second part of the seventh season of “Outlander” that suggests difficult times for the Frasers. Both in the past and in the future.
A few photos from the set have already been released. We see, among other things, a worried Claire and a worried Jamie, but also a happy Ian.
Outlander Season 7: New intro song by Sinéad O’Connor
It is tradition for “Outlander” that the popular intro song, the “Skye Boat Song”, is reinterpreted for each season. For season 7, the series makers were able to hire the late Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor. You can hear what that sounds like below.
Outlander Season 7 Part 2: Plot
Large parts of the 7th season tell the story of “Echo of Hope”, the seventh book by Diana Gabaldon. The action takes place in two different time periods. While Brianna lives in Scotland in the 80s, her parents Claire and Jamie are still in the turbulent times of the 18th century in the USA. However, at the end of Part 1, Claire and Jamie head back to Scotland.
Meanwhile, Brianna and Roger worry about their son Jemmy in the 1980s. He was kidnapped by Rob Cameron and probably taken back to the 18th century through the stone circle stones. Roger and Buck, an ancestor of Roger who also came through the stones, make their way to Craigh Na Dun. Brianna and daughter Mandy stay behind.
Outlander Season 7: Cast
Caitriona Balfe (Claire), Sam Heughan (Jamie), Sophie Skelton (Brianna) and Richard Rankin (Roger) will all be part of Season 7. Several other fan favorites also return: John Bell as Young Ian, Lauren Lyle as Marsali, Cesar Domboy as Fergus, Caitlin O’Ryan as Lizzie and David Berry as Lord John Grey.
There are also a few cliffhangers from season 6, for which the following actors would have to return to their “Outlander” characters: Alexander Vlahos as Allan Christie, Mark Lewis Jones as Tom Christie, Brennan Martin as Wendigo Donner, Chris Larkin as Richard Brown, Paul Gorman as Josiah and Keziah Beardsley.
We will also see Lotte Verbeek as Geillis Duncan, Andrew Whipp as Brian Fraser, Graham McTavish as Dougal McKenzie, Steven Cree as Ian Murphy, Layla Burns as Joan MacKimmie and Nell Hudson as Laoghaire Fraser. This may come as a surprise to many fans, as some of these characters have already passed away.
Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts tells US magazine TVLine: “One of the many joys of our epic story is the element of time travel, which allows us to see some of our favorite characters again in other times and places, and we’re excited to be in “To see so many familiar faces again in the seventh season.”
But there are also many new faces waiting for us: Loria Obianyo (“Dune”) as Mercy Woodcock, Rod Hallett (“The Last Kingdom”) as Benedict Arnold and Chris Fulton (“The Witcher”) as Rob Cameron.
There is also a new cast this season. Jenny Murray will now be played by Kristin Atherton instead of Laura Donnelly. The reason for this is that Donnelly is already scheduled for other projects.
Outlander Season 7 Part 2: Production
Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Andy Harris and Jim Kohlberg will once again serve as executive producers. Season 7 has now been filmed and production on “Outlander” Season 8 has begun.
