Despite the resignations, tens of thousands demonstrated in the capital Budapest on Friday evening, according to local media.
The largest demonstration in Hungary for years took place on Heroes’ Square in Budapest on Friday evening. «The Hungarian government has failed. And whoever is responsible for this scandal will not be independently investigated,” explains political scientist and influencer Edina Pottyondy in front of the microphone.

The director of a children’s home in Bicske abused children for years. His deputy covered the perpetrator; for this he was legally convicted. Her ex-husband Péter Magyar, until recently a member of the inner circle of power, is now sharply criticizing the government. “If we don’t want our children to grow up in a state-run family stock corporation, like Hungary currently is, then it’s worth changing something now.”

Bishop and former minister Zoltan Balog also resigned on Friday. He is considered the mastermind behind the pardon. But none of this is enough for the demonstrators in Budapest. Many are angry. “This government has to go. The song is over. We need a new government,” explains one demonstrator.
