Over 100 storm operations – small vans hit and rolled over by gusts

As announced, storm depression “Ylenia” has arrived in Upper Austria. Gusts of up to 100 km/h spoil the ski fun and knock down the trees in rows. In Sierning, a small van was hit by a hurricane and rolled over. The driver was trapped and seriously injured.

The warning center of the Upper Austrian fire brigade command received 41 storm operations within an hour in the morning, mainly from the foothills of the Alps and the Mühlviertel. By noon, more than a hundred missions for the Floriani disciples had to be completed. So far, however, it has mostly only been fallen trees. If trees have fallen on power lines, there are also isolated power failures.Hours of rescueIn Sierning, a presumably unloaded small van was hit by a gust of wind, came off the road and overturned. The driver was severely trapped in the vehicle lying on the roof. The forces of three fire departments worked non-stop for almost an hour to cut the man out of the wreck. He was admitted to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic in Steyr after emergency medical care. For safety reasons, there is no skiing in the Feuerkogel, Hinterstoder, Hochficht and Kasberg ski areas and only very limited on the Wurzeralm.
