Over 69 kilometers – In “brutal” heat, Innerhofer finished on the podium

It was very warm in Salzburg at the weekend. In Istria, however, it is even hotter. It was exactly there that Hans-Peter Innerhofer ran the longest racing distance of his career and pushed through mentally.

“I suffered brutally with the heat,” said mountain runner Hans-Peter Innerhofer after the race in Istria. 69 kilometers – the man from Pinzgau had never run that long in a race before. And yet in the end he only has to admit defeat to Simon Gosselin. “I’m super happy with the placement,” beamed Innerhofer. Especially in the last 20 kilometers, it was a mental challenge for the 29-year-old, as he tells “Krone”: “You ran through knee-high grass through the pampas .” Brother Manuel is already back in training after an injury, but didn’t want to take on such a long run yet.
