Hideo Kojima has become, in recent years, a figure in the video game industry. Notably known for his colossal Death Stranding project, the director with more than original ideas teased the arrival of a new game in 2019. But while Kojima fans are still waiting for news from this mysterious video game project, it seems that a leak has revealed some information to the public. Hideo Kojima is currently working on a horror game called Overdose. That’s all we know!
Overdose, Kojima’s new project
It’s from Tom Henderson, a known industry insider, that this information comes to us. In an article for TryHardGuidesHenderson writes to have had access to an extract of a production of Kojima and that the latter would not be a second opus of Death Stranding, although it shows one of the characters.
Indeed, we would see in this gameplay extract a character from Death Stranding, crossing corridors lit by the only light of a flashlight. This is about momor of Locknedifficult to say who it is because the two characters are twins, and are both played by the actress Margaret Qualley, therefore totally inseparable. The extract would be in third person, but Henderson specifies that the game is playable in first person as well.
At the end of the extract, so at the end of the corridor, is a jumpscare, which concludes in gameplay by displaying “GAMEOVER”then “a Hideo Kojima Game, OVERDOSE”thus confirming that this would bea new project by Kojima. The community has even unveiled an image, quite blurred and zoomed in, from the extract in question.
Could it therefore be a spinoff on Mama and/or Lockne? The two twins have indeed a very mysterious history. In Death Stranding, their relatives describe them as “one soul in two different bodies”. Furthermore, (Death Stranding Spoiler Warning) Mama will give birth to a child, whose tragic birth will cause Mama to give birth on the other side, and the child will become a BT, who will subsequently pass away. The two sisters therefore meet a very tragic fate, in particular Mama, who because of her ability to interact with the other side, makes us think that she can be linked to this potential new production of Kojima. Kojima and horror, a great love story
This is not the first time that Hideo Kojima has tried his hand at the genre. In 2015, he assisted Konami in the production of games in the series silent Hill, a project that unfortunately never saw the light of day. In recent years, however, Kojima had not given up on the idea of working on a horror game, and had said he was turning to the genre for an upcoming video game project. He said he wanted to create “the most terrifying horror game”, to see if Overdose will be.
For the moment, nothing has yet been confirmed by Hideo Kojima. This week, many developer conferences and industry builders will be broadcast, and many games announced. Will overdose be announced? We will of course be there to share all these news with you!
