Overknees and knee socks: sooner or later their reputation will precede them. Too sexy? Too nice schoolgirl? It’s all about the styling.

Socks: There is hardly a topic that is less written about in fashion. Who cares about what happens under the shoe and above the feet? Correct: nobody! That’s why we now wear our footlets visibly as overknees or knee socks.

Overknees: Get on the rope

A relic from the 2000s? More of a grateful revival. Because the extra-long socks enable fashionably unusual looks that bring sophisticated styles out of skirts, shorts or dresses. So that the long socks don’t look too sexy in everyday life, you don’t use transparent stockings as much, but instead choose knitted variations that reach over the knee. The soft fabric warms you up, especially in the cooler months of the year, and the fine or coarsely woven look makes it look really good.

The main thing is that the stocking looks out of the shaft

But what do you wear over the stocking? The style secret is: the right footwear. Of course, long stockings look great with an oversized sweater, a short skirt or a denim dress. But the choice of shoes is also crucial: while loafers tend to evoke associations with the girls’ boarding school of our childhood dreams, rough boots or sneakers look more modern. It is particularly important for boots: the sock must protrude from the shaft. Rubber boots are particularly popular.

Knee socks: The short statement

Calf or knee-high stockings give every outfit an elegant and feminine touch. Black and transparent stockings look particularly classy with a pencil skirt and half-closed shoes or pumps. If you dare, you can even wear your socks in bright colors like blue, green or orange. A shoe that runs the color contrast program is extremely en vogue.

Caution: It is better to skip these details

So that the look does not appear too playful, it is best to avoid white stockings or models with checked patterns. ballet flats? Don’t wear socks that are too short — we don’t want to look like we’ve just stepped out of the Black Swan movie. Chunky boots create the perfect break in style with the fine look and appear rough and edgy.
