The Overwatch League 2022 Meta
As always in a competitive environment, certain characters or certain weapons are better than others and it is exactly the same in Overwatch and nothing has changed in Overwatch 2. Although the meta can be very different between pro players and your classic soloQ, a character considered very strong in pro has a chance of being in gold too.
the StatsLab, site official of Blizzard brings together the statistics of the Overwatch League and thus allows you to see which were the most played characters of the season.
The site reveals in particular a rather crazy figure: only 5 characters exceed 5% pick. Indeed, the only characters played are Lucio, Sojourn, Kiriko, Phantom and Winston.
Scary numbers
The use of only 5 characters can quickly cause concern, lack of diversity, boredom or simply influence on the community, seeing professionals only use 5 characters on the full roster could have a big impact on the rest of the competitive scene.
We learn, for example, that lucio is used in no less than… 100% Parties. This first Overwatch character of the name is therefore simply mandatory in pro play. The character is also very popular in SoloQ, and at all levels. sojourn meanwhile resides at a pretty 99.8% of use making the character an unbeatable only a few weeks after his appearance in the competitive scene.
Many players are also worried about this mirror meta where there is little room for surprise. It remains to be seen if the grand finale will feature anything different.
