Overwatch 2 will therefore include the cross-play and cross-progression on all its platforms when it launches on October 4. Players can already merge their accounts so as to import cosmetics, credits and other game statistics into a single profile.
How to merge an account
It is through a detailed FAQ that Blizzard announces, and explains, how and why to merge several Overwatch accounts. First of all, you will need a Battle.net accounta requirement for cross-play in Overwatch since 2021.
Here are the steps to follow to merge your console account with a Battle.net account:
- Log in to Overwatch with your console account.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to scan a QR code with your smartphone.
- Enter the code displayed on your console to log in to your Blizzard Battle.net account or to create a new one. If you haven’t confirmed your phone number yet, follow the prompts to do so using SMS ID.
- When this is done, you will be able to confirm your account the next time you log in to the game and merge your accounts.
By linking your accounts, you will be able to import vyour progress, items, emotes, achievements, stats, in-game credits, Overwatch League Tokens on a new Overwatch 2 profile.
Some disadvantages
Please note that once a console account is merged with a Battle.net account, you will no longer be able to link other accounts on the same platform. You can only link one account per platform.
Furthermore, theOverwatch League tokens purchased on Nintendo Switch will not be merged in one and the same account and will remain on this platform.
