Blizzard recently announced in a reveal event that Overwatch 2 will be released on October 4, 2022. In addition to new heroes, game modes and maps, the lively shooter will be completely free-to-play.
Loot boxes and pay-to-win are still controversial and often create a bad mood among players. Now the successor to Overwatch at least wants to get away from the loot boxes and instead rely on a seasonal Battle Pass. In addition, according to Blizzard, there should be an in-game shop where cosmetic items can be bought.
Actually, the deletion of the loot boxes should be good news, since content can be purchased in a targeted manner and the gambling factor is no longer relied on. However, it remains to be seen whether Blizzard has learned from the Diablo Immortal debacle, or whether Overwatch 2 will become another pay-to-win experience.

At the unveiling event, Blizzard announced some other innovations. This includes the new heroine like Junker Queen. Also, teams will only have five heroes each.
