A new start at Blizzard: while Overwatch 2 is set for the beginning of October, its lead hero designer has decided to leave the studio.

A start as sudden as surprising. Geoff Goodmanno connection with Saul since lead hero designer of the new Overwatch 2, has just announced its departure from Blizzard. He decided to jump ship just weeks before the release of the title, which is set at October 4. The reason was not officially mentioned by the studio, which however left a note of thanks to its designer in the American media.

We thank Geoff for his many years of service at Blizzard and wish him the best.

His ability to bring the diversity of Overwatch heroes to life through gameplay has been incredible, and the mark he left on the Warcraft and Overwatch teams will be felt for years to come.

Goodman was one of the company’s main game designers since World of Warcraft, where he was in charge of the design of the game’s bosses, and had already taken care of the balancing of the heroes of Overwatch first of the name. On the OW2 team, where he oversaw character creation, many figures have already left Blizzard in recent months, in particular because of the heavy accusations of harassment that have weighed on the studio since 2021. But this departure would have no link, just like that of producer Chacko Sonny last year. It is nonetheless surprising, a few days before the release of the new game…
