Overwatch 2 kicks off its Halloween event with a co-op mission

Overwatch 2 opens the ball of seasonal festivities with the return of an event known to players: Revenge of Dr. Schakalstein. The iconic co-op mode returns, with hordes of enemies to decimate alongside your teammates to protect the castle gate. Note that this was the very first iteration of the format PvE in Blizzard’s FPS, as soon as it was released in 2016.

If the game mode remains substantially the same, the roster of playable characters varies each year for a new experience. The version 2022 inaugurates the transition to Overwatch 2 and gives pride of place to the new Heroes: Ashe, Junker Queen, Kiriko and Sojourn will have the task of defending the castle this year.

As with all previous PvE events on OW, the mission can be accomplished with the characters provided by the game or in free mode with your favorite Heroes, with an impact on the reward.

In addition to the PvE mission, the event is also an opportunity to find the traditional Halloween skins available for purchase. Be careful though, the economic system of the game has been overhauled in the meantime, no longer a question of relying on your luck and the lootboxes to obtain the cosmetics of your choice. You will have to go through the in-game store and spend the dedicated currency, the rate of obtaining of which is debated among players.

According to the launch trailer, we can already confirm skins for Sojourn, Kiriko and Junker Queen, but also the return of models from previous editions. If you missed one of your favorite skins from years before, now you can buy it for sure.
